Kristina Alleyne

Kristina Alleyne started her career as an athlete, training and competing professionally in London, UK. Shifting to dance, she trained at the BRIT School of Performing Arts and Technology 2003-05 (UK), and the Northern School of Contemporary Dance 2005-08 (UK). Kristina has recently relocated to Antwerp, Belgium, and has undertaken Roehampton's Foundation Course in Dance Movement Psychotherapy.  

Kristina completed a postgraduate Diploma with dance performance company Verve in 2009. Kristina joined Akram Khan Company in 2012 for productions such as iTOMi and Kaash, most notably performing at the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony. Kristina also leads workshops internationally as part of A.K.C.T (Akram Khan Charitable Trust) and independent film projects directed by Akram Khan. Kristina has performed with Wim Vandekeybus Ultima Vez Company touring the production Trap Town in 2018-2019. Kristina is an accomplished movement mentor and has guided many up-and-coming artists. She also worked as Movement Associate for Marvel Studios in 2020, and Movement Director for Purple Theatre (UK).   

Kristina has performed and toured with international companies and choreographers such as, Tavaziva Dance, Arthur Pita, Ijad Dance and Technology Company, Frititi Traditional African Drumming & Dance Ltd., Retina Dance Company, Henri Oguike Dance Company, Helen Parlor, ACE Dance and Music, Thomas Michael Voss and Chisato Minamimura. 

Kristina and her identical twin sister Sadé formed the internationally acclaimed company Alleyne Dance in 2014. Alleyne Dance (AD) is a UK-based company with an international reach. The company has a distinctive style which draws on their powerful relationship as sisters, their joint athletic experiences, and their diverse experiences in dance training. On the international circuit, the company is presenting stage productions A Night’s Game and The Other Side of Me, and outdoor work BONDED. Alleyne Dance’s short interactive film, (Re)United has won multiple awards including Best Short Dance Film at the National Dance Awards 2021 (UK), and has been selected for numerous international film festivals.  

In 2023, Alleyne Dance were winners of Black Female Icons of Lewisham with Brockley Max and The Mayor of London, and the Company also received the award for Best Independent Company at the National Dance Awards. The sisters also jointly won 2020 Best Female Dancer of the Year, awarded by Kritikerumfrage-Jahrbuch 2020 (Critic Survey – Yearbook 2020).   

Alleyne Dance has worked on high profile commissions for the renowned Martha Graham Company (USA), Phoenix Dance Theatre (UK), and the Mayor of London’s London Borough of Culture 2022 in Lewisham. Other notable commissions include the 2019 Bench commission with 2Faced Dance Company.   

Learning and development is an essential part of the Company’s mission, and Kristina and Sadé have built a strong reputation delivering training classes and workshops in a range of settings around the world for community groups, youth groups, vocational institutions, professional companies, and dance festivals. Alongside this, Alleyne Dance have recently launched their bespoke Mentorship scheme, and have also developed the Alleyne Sisters Workout programme.
